End of Summer Events in Chicago
Chicago, are you ready to take advantage of the last of our gorgeous, summer weather? There are still a lot of exciting activities and events going on around town before Fall starts to move in, so let’s make the most of it! Before you get too deep into those back-to-school routines, get outside, and take advantage of some of the city’s best culture, eateries, concerts, events and more. Here’s what we have to look forward to through this weekend and into September:
Exciting Events Around Chicago
Ravinia Music Festival
When: Through September 17
Where: Ravinia Park in Highland Park
It’s Ravinia Music Festival time! With nationally known performers headlining Chicago’s famous music festival (and America’s oldest outdoor music festival), be sure to head to Highland Park for some great tunes and dancing.
Adult Scavenger Hunt at the Zoo
When: August 25 (6:30 – 10:30 p.m.)
Where: Lincoln Park Zoo
Gather a team of your closest friends (age 21+), and take a walk on the wild side! Head to the zoo to solve clues and compete for prizes at the Lincoln Park Zoo Challenge. Once you’ve completed your challenge, stick around for a night of celebrations. Costumes are welcome.
Movies in the Parks
When: Through September 9
Where: Various Chicago locations
Head outdoors, and enjoy the last of the beautiful weather that this gorgeous city has to offer before cooler weather starts to move in. Pack a picnic, grab a lawn chair and see 250 Movies in the Parks. And the best part – they’re free!
Taste of Greece
When: August 25 – 27
Where: 400 S Halsted Street
If you love Greek food, this one’s for you! During Taste of Greektown’s free event, you can enjoy delicious Greek restaurant food along with some traditional music, dancing, games, crafts and more.
Food Truck Fest
When: August 25 – 27
Where: Humboldt Boulevard (from Armitage Avenue to Bloomingdale Avenue).
Attention all foodies! You won’t want to miss the Logan Square Food Truck Social. There will be 20 food trucks all lined up, ready to sell their best eats, treats and drinks alongside some great live music. Donations are welcome.
Taste of the Nation
When: August 30
Where: Revel Fulton Market
Jump on the food train, and enjoy gourmet food from 27 restaurants, fine wine, beer, cocktails, and live music at Chicago Taste of the Nation. Must be aged 21+.
Noir Film Festival
When: August 25 – 31
Where: Music Box Theatre
Noir City will be screening classic films for Chicago movie buffs. All stylish, cynical, and melodramatic, you’ll definitely want to head to the Music Box Theatre for this event!
Jazz festival
When: August 31 – September 3
Where: Millennium Park
Though we’re not quite ready for Labor Day yet, you won’t want to miss the last of the summer activities with the Chicago Jazz Festival over Labor Day weekend. This free event will be held at Millennium Park. No dogs, please.
