Chicagoland’s Best Pumpkin Patch, Apple Picking & Corn Mazes for Fall 2017

Nothing says fall quite like pumpkins, apples and fun-filled, festive farm getaways!  Luckily for us, all of these wonderful autumnal traditions can be found right at our doorstep.  So, let’s get down to it, and take a look at some of the best farms for fall in and around Chicagoland.

 

Best Apple Picking Around Chicago

Enjoy some of the season’s best treats, and head to the orchards for a fun day of apple picking to celebrate the coming of the Fall season!


Prairie Sky Orchard

When:  Open every day from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where:  4914 N Union Rd. Union 60180
Prairie Sky Orchard specializes in 15 varieties of apples and Asian pears.  Apple pickers can also enjoy the farm’s Koffee Kiosk for hot cup of coffee and a delicious slice of apple pie to really lift those Autumn spirits!


Ziegler’s Orchard

When:  Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where:  32363 North Bacon Road Grayslake 
The perfect weekend adventure for the whole family, this orchard offers a variety of tasty apples and pastries.


Apple Holler

When:  Daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where:  5006 S Sylvania Ave Sturtevant, WI 

There’s no shortage of Fall activities at the apple Holler!  You can spend your day picking in the beautiful orchards, then check out the restaurant, the theater, or take one of the many tours around the holler.  Be sure to check their calendar for special events.


County Line Orchard

When:  Daily from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where:  200 S County Line Rd. Hobart 
Forty acres of U-pick apples, pumpkins and so much more await at the County Line Orchard.  Enjoy plenty of sweet treats, including fresh-baked doughnuts and s’mores by the fire, while you wander the site.  Be sure to check out the petting zoo and corn maze.

Pick out the perfect pumpkin in time for Halloween at some of Chicagoland’s most festive patches!


Goebbert’s Pumpkin Farm & Garden Center

When:  Sunday – Monday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where:   40 W Higgins Rd. South Barrington 
Head to Goebbert’s to pick up all of the pumpkins your heart desires!  While you’re there, be sure to check out the exotic petting zoo (you may just find a giraffe) and corn maze.  There’s also a pumpkin-eating dinosaur and a wagon ride for the kids to enjoy.   


Didier Farms

When:  Daily from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where:  16678 W Aptakisic Rd. Lincolnshire 
There’s a reason this Didier Farms calls its fall pumpkin-picking season Pumpkinfest.  Farm-goers can watch pig races, play in the silly string asylum, grab a hot dog or grab some spiced apple cider to get in the Fall spirit.  And, of course, there’s a huge selection of unique and unusual gourds to choose from!


Sonny Acres Farm

When:  Daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Where: 29 W 310 North Ave. West Chicago (Cross Street: on Rt. 64 one mile east of Rt. 59)
Pick from piles of pumpkins, squash and gourds at Sonny Acres Farm!  Once you find the perfect one to take home for carving, let the kids shop for Halloween costumes.  After, the whole family can enjoy roasted corn on the cob and cotton candy while taking a spin on the haunted wagon ride.


Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm

When:  Daily from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Where:  13341 W 151st St. Homer Glen 
Enjoy the perfect fall getaway with pumpkins, ponies and hayrides.  But, be sure to arrive hungry – apple cider doughnuts, award-winning barbecue and funnel cakes will be aplenty!

 

Best Corn Mazes Around Chicago

Ready for an adventure?  No matter what kind of fall outing you’re looking for –  from the family-friendly to the seriously spooky – there’s a fun-filled maze for everyone!


Richardson Adventure Farm

When:  Wed-Thurs 3pm-10pm; Fri-Sat 10am-11pm; Sun noon-10pm

Where:  909 English Prairie Rd. Spring Grove 

Don’t miss the “world’s largest,” most intricate corn maze in Chicagoland.  Bring the family and spend your day getting lost in the farm’s 33 acres, play one of five different maze games, take a pony ride and more!  


All Seasons Orchard

When:  14510 Rte. 176 Woodstock

Where:  Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; weekdays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Best known for their apple-picking, All Seasons also offers other activities for guests like this year’s Super Mario Bros.-themed maze. You can use question and answer quizzes to take you through the maze, play a ‘whodunit game’ or simply follow a map.


Heap’s Haunted Corn Maze

When:  October 2-3, 9-10, 16-17 and 30-31 from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Where: 4853 US Highway 52 Minooka 

This haunted maze is loads of fun! But, the technical difficulty of this night-only haunted thriller is not the only fright, as you’ll need to watch out for ghosts and goblins along the way. For those looking for something a little less fearsome, check out the flashlight maze and moonlight hayride.


Konow’s Corn Maze

When:   Sunday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Where:  16849 S. Cedar Road Homer Glen

Enjoy this amusement-filled corn maze designed for both the large and small set. The big corn maze is more than 3 miles long and boasts all sorts of twists and turns for those seeking a real challenge. There’s also a smaller, less daunting maze for those looking for a quick run through the corn fields.  Once you make it out of the maze, stop by the petting zoo, giant corn pits and have a bite at concessions.


Jonamac Apple Orchard

When:  Daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where:  19412 Shabbona Rd. Malta 

This corn maze has a split personality – family-friendly by day and haunted by night!  During the day, families can explore the 10-acre, three-mile corn maze. Then, on Friday and Saturday nights in October, the maze becomes haunted with ghosts, ghouls, chainsaws and graves for a spookier adventure.
