June 2019 Events in Chicago
Summer brings with it a healthy dose of sunshine, and with that comes the variety of summer festivals that take over our beautiful city’s parks, streets, and public spaces. Make the most of the next few weeks by heading over to these summer music festivals and having the time of your life. Let your hair down, and come out to explore the following street festivals Chicago has to offer in the month ahead!
Nickelodeon SlimeFest
When: June 8th – June 9th
Where: Huntington Bank Pavilion, Northerly Island
The Nickelodeon SlimeFest is coming back to Chicago from the 8th to 9th of June. You will get to enjoy a weekend of epic music, dance, star encounters, and many more activities. The festival will feature award-winning rappers such as Pitbull, T-pain, and singer Bebe Rexha.
The kids will also enjoy the festival as they will get the chance to see some of their favorite Nickelodeon stars. The SlimeFest is not complete without the gooey green slime, right? The kids are guaranteed bucketloads of the green stuff, so be ready to get dirty and messy. There will be more fun activities which include giant slides, a huge maze, and the silent disco.
Entry is free for children under two.
Taste of Randolph
When: June 14th – 16th
Where: 900 W Randolph street and Beyond
If you love good food, drinks, and music, you do not want to miss this event. The festival features some of the best restaurants in Chicago accompanied by some serious performances from the best rockers across the country.
Attendees get to enjoy delicacies from more than 16 restaurants while listening to live music from indie rockers Real Estate, New York rockers Cults, synth-pop duo Holy Ghost among others. You will also get the chance to donate to charity, and all donations go to support the West Loop Community Organization.
RibFest Chicago
When: June 14th – 16th
Where: Lincoln Ave between Irving Park Rd and Berteau Ave
Now, picture 50,000 pounds of sizzling saucy pork ribs and BBQ. If your mouth is getting watery, then you should not miss the RibFest in Lincoln Avenue this summer. Come and enjoy this annual celebration that brings together more than 30 vendors and eat as many ribs as you can. There will be good music to keep you entertained while you dig through your rack of ribs. Don’t forget to bring a friend.
Printers Row Lit Fest
When: June 8th-9th
Where: Printers Row, Downtown
Fans of history and literature will love this exhibit! This unique festival hosts the biggest free outdoor literature event on the Midwest. You will get to shop from more than 100 booksellers and engage in conversations with authors such as Valerie Jarrett. If you love theatre performances, you will have a pleasant experience interacting with members of Steppenwolf theater. There will be a kids section which features an Art and Poetry tent where the kids will get to dress up as their favorite storybook character and march in the Parade on Saturday. This event can be a fun activity for the whole family.
