The State of Chicago Real Estate in the Face of COVID-19

I’m very excited to report that our local real estate market remains strong. Sellers are still listing, and buyers are still writing offers. It’s all very encouraging. With that in mind, I do wholeheartedly support the recommendations of the CDC. We are taking all necessary precautions before and after any property showing, and all of my listings (now and always) include a virtual tour that could be a true game changer in a situation like this.

Precautions you may encounter in the coming weeks include:

Private property showings in place of previously scheduled open houses
Handwashing stations and hand sanitizer stations placed throughout homes you view
Booties provided for you at the front door of homes (or sellers requesting that you remove your shoes prior to entering)

As a buyer, if you can use virtual tours to create a short list, that is also a very good idea. It will reduce the number of on-site interactions you have and improve the overall health and safety of everyone involved.

All in all, this is still a great time to buy or sell a home in Chicago, and that does not appear to be changing anytime soon.
